The study shows that the SM2RAIN-ASCAT product performs well in detecting rainy days in extra-arid regions but tends to overestimate precipitation in these areas, while underestimating in humid and per-humid climates. Results also demonstrate good agreement between SM2RAIN-ASCAT and ground-based observations for monitoring drought at different time scales.
