A hierarchical scheme for remaining useful life prediction with long short-term memory networks

Tao Song et al.

Summary: Remaining useful life (RUL) prediction is crucial in prognostics and health management (PHM) applications, and data-driven approaches have gained increasing attention for capturing the degradation process of complex systems using operating data. This study formulates RUL prediction as a bi-level optimization problem and proposes a bi-level deep learning scheme to predict machine RUL. The proposed framework outperforms state-of-the-art approaches in case studies.

Alarm-based predictive maintenance scheduling for aircraft engines with imperfect Remaining Useful Life prognostics

Ingeborg de Pater et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a dynamic, predictive maintenance scheduling framework that takes into account imperfect Remaining Useful Life (RUL) prognostics. Maintenance tasks are scheduled based on periodically updated RUL prognostics and alarms triggered by their evolution over time. A safety factor is used to avoid component failures in the presence of potential errors in the RUL prognostics.

Back-propagation suppression study based on intake configuration optimization for an air-breathing pulse detonation engine

Zhiwu Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a suppression method based on the optimization of the intake configuration with wedge-shaped angle and blockage ratio was proposed to reduce the back-propagation of an air-breathing pulse detonation engine. The numerical simulation and experimental results verified the reliability of the simulation. The study found that the wedge-shaped configuration with a 30-degree angle was the most efficient geometry for back-propagation suppression.
