Orbit determination of China's first mars probe Tianwen-1 during interplanetary cruise

Peng Yang et al.

Summary: Tianwen-1 is China's first deep space probe to explore Mars, with the aim of orbiting, landing, and roving. This paper presents the detailed orbit determination process and results during the Earth-Mars trajectory phase, utilizing tracking data from the Chinese Deep Space Network and Chinese VLBI Network. The analysis shows significant improvements in VLBI data accuracy compared to previous Chinese Lunar Exploration Program missions.

Numerical study of nano and micro pollutant particle transport and deposition in realistic human lung airways

M. Rahman et al.

Summary: For respiratory health risk assessment, it is crucial to evaluate the transportation and deposition of pollutant particles in human lung airways. However, the understanding of the transportation and deposition of different pollutant particles in realistic airways is still limited.

Lung toxicity of particulates and gaseous pollutants using ex-vivo airway epithelial cell culture systems

Ramzi Lakhdar et al.

Summary: Air pollution has a detrimental effect on respiratory health, and different types of particulate matter can activate various biological processes. However, most studies on the molecular mechanisms of air pollution-induced toxicity have been conducted in cell lines rather than primary cells from healthy individuals or patients with airway diseases. This review highlights the importance of studying the impact of submicron-sized pollutants on primary human cells derived from the respiratory tract to better understand the pathophysiological pathways activated by different particulate matter.

Micrometer aerosol deposition in normal and emphysematous subacinar models

Jinxiang Xi et al.

Summary: This study numerically evaluated the impact of septal destructions on particle deposition in a subacinar model, finding that emphysema leads to increased particle deposition and is more sensitive to small particles.

Investigation on Microparticle Transport and Deposition Mechanics in Rhythmically Expanding Alveolar Chip

Jun Dong et al.

Summary: This study presented a real-scale alveolar chip with movable alveolar walls based on microfluidics to experimentally study particle transport in human lung alveoli under rhythmical respiratory. A new method of mixing particles in aqueous solution instead of air was proposed for visualization of particle transport in the alveoli, providing better resolution and clearer images without losing details. Tracing particle trajectories in the alveoli showed that drag force contributes to reversible particle motion, while gravity is the decisive factor for particle deposition.

Study on Deposition Characteristics of Microparticles in Terminal Pulmonary Acini by IB-LBM

Du-Chang Xu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a respiratory movement model of terminal pulmonary acini and explores the effect of gravity direction, respiratory rate, microparticle diameter, and other parameters on the microparticles deposition process. The study reveals the dynamic correlation between the respiration process and the movement of microparticles, providing reference value for understanding the pathogenicity mechanism of inhalable particles and optimizing aerosol delivery.
