A gene co-expression network analysis of the candidate genes and molecular pathways associated with feather follicle traits of chicken skin

Gai-ge Ji et al.

Summary: Significant differences in gene expression were found between the back and thigh skin of chickens, with genes involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, adhesion, and transport processes. Functionally, the differentially expressed genes were mapped into ECM-receptor interaction, peroxisome, focal adhesion, Hedgehog, and PPAR signaling pathways. Signaling pathways related to feathers morphogenesis and development occupied important positions in the protein-protein interaction network analysis.

A single nucleotide polymorphism variant located in the cis-regulatory region of the ABCG2 gene is associated with mallard egg colour

Hehe Liu et al.

Summary: The study identified the genetic basis of green egg coloration in ducks, pinpointing a 179kb region on Chr4 and highlighting the importance of the ABCG2 gene. The research provided a valuable molecular marker for duck breeding and contributed to the study of ecological evolution based on egg color patterns among birds.

Genome-wide association analysis reveals that EDNRB2 causes a dose-dependent loss of pigmentation in ducks

Yang Xi et al.

Summary: Through genome-wide association studies, the key gene EDNRB2 responsible for variation in duck body surface spot size was identified, with the major allele locus being Chr4: 10,180,939 T > C. Further analysis revealed two mutations associated with this gene and their phenotypic effects.

KCND2 variants associated with global developmental delay differentially impair Kv4.2 channel gating

Yongqiang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reports six individuals with early-onset global developmental delay carrying heterozygous missense variants of KCND2, resulting in impaired Kv4.2 channel gating. The results support the role of Kv4.2 channel gating impairment in early-onset monogenic global developmental delay.
