Deep Eutectic Solvent-A Novel Additive to Induce Gamma Crystallization and Alpha-to-Gamma Phase Transition of PVDF

Muhua Yuan et al.

Summary: This study introduces an environmentally friendly deep eutectic solvent (DES) to induce crystallization of polar phases and accelerate the alpha-to-gamma phase transition in PVDF. The presence of DES results in over 90% gamma(gamma')-phase crystals in the PVDF/DES composite with only 1 wt% DES, due to the ion-dipole interaction between PVDF and the hydrogen bond acceptor in DES.

Pyrolysis study of N, N-dimethylformamide at low pressure

Zhen-Guo Fan et al.

Summary: N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) can be effectively degraded by pyrolysis. The main pathways of DMF consumption are hydrogen abstraction and dissociation, leading to the formation of methane, ethylene, and carbon monoxide. Other nitrogen-containing compounds related to NOx are also produced. These findings are important for further research on the treatment of DMF in exhaust fumes through pyrolysis and the clean utilization of amine fuels.

Anti-biofouling microfiltration membranes based on 1-vinyl-3-butylimidazolium chloride grafted PVDF with improved bactericidal properties and vitro biocompatibility

Xiaowei Zhang et al.

Summary: PVDF porous membranes grafted with [VBIm][Cl] were prepared and exhibited improved hydrophilicity and wetting capacity with increasing grafting content. These membranes showed good anti-biofouling properties and excellent antibacterial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The incorporation of [VBIm][Cl] into PVDF membranes had minimal effect on hemolysis and cytotoxicity, with membranes showing good hemocompatibility and potential applications in the biomedical field.
