On the vibration of functionally graded annular plate with elastic edge supports and resting on Winkler foundation

Soheil Hashemi et al.

Summary: This paper deals with the exact solution of vibration analysis of functionally graded annular plate under elastically restrained boundary conditions and resting on Winkler foundation. The motion equations and boundary conditions are derived using Hamilton's principle, and the effects of various parameters on the frequency parameter are evaluated. The accuracy of the results is validated by comparison with previously published literature.

Experimental and analytical investigations on the failure modes of concrete sandwich panels under axial compression

J. Daniel Ronald Joseph et al.

Summary: This paper proposes precast lightweight Concrete Sandwich Panels (CSP) as an alternative to conventional load bearing brick masonry walls. The failure modes, strength, and behavior of CSP are defined through theoretical and experimental investigations. The results show that CSP can be used for practical applications and the existing strength predicting formulas need to be modified.

Flexural behavior of sandwich panels with 3D printed cellular cores and aluminum face sheets under quasi-static loading

S. Chahardoli

Summary: This study presents sandwich panels with a PLA core made through the FDM method. The mechanical properties of the proposed samples were investigated and it was found that the layering type in the FDM method and the main pattern extension type can affect the collapse properties of the sandwich panel. Furthermore, the collapse properties and absorbed energy of the samples depend on the loading direction. Numerical modeling showed good agreement with experimental results.

Flexural property evaluation of web reinforced GFRP-PET foam sandwich panel: Experimental study and numerical simulation

Honglei Xie et al.

Summary: This study focused on the flexural property of PET foam-filled lattice composite sandwich panels under four-point bending. Increasing the thickness of face sheet and PET foam can effectively improve the ultimate load of the panels. Experimental results and theoretical predictions showed errors within 10% for bending stiffness and ultimate load.

Effect of high-low temperature on the compressive and shear performances of composite sandwich panels with pyramidal lattice truss cores

Xiaodong Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the compressive and shear performance of composite sandwich panels with pyramidal lattice truss cores (CSPPLTCs) in high and low temperature environments. The results showed that the improvement of interface bonding performance enhanced the compressive and shear performance of CSPPLTCs in low temperature environments, while the flexible state of the resin led to a deterioration in performance in high temperature environments.

Flexural strength of foam-filled polymer composite sandwich panel with novel M-shaped core reinforced by nano-SiO2

Himan Khaledi et al.

Summary: The flexural strength of carbon fiber reinforced polymer sandwich panels reinforced with a novel M-shaped lattice core and nano-SiO2 was experimentally determined. The addition of 1 to 3 wt% nano-SiO2 into carbon fibers showed the most desirable effects on enhancing flexural strength, while the use of polyurethane foam and the new M-shaped core structure also improved the performance of the sandwich panels.

An Analytical Solution for Nonlinear Vibration Analysis of Functionally Graded Rectangular Plate in Contact with Fluid

Soheil Hashemi et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the nonlinear vibrations analysis of functionally graded (FG) rectangular plate in contact with fluid using first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) for the first time. The effects of system parameters such as vibration amplitude, fluid density, fluid depth ratio, volume fraction index and aspect ratio on the nonlinear natural frequency of the plate are discussed in detail through the use of von Karman nonlinearity strain-displacement relations and Galerkin procedure.
