Importance of small loops within PIM-1 topology on gas separation selectivity in thin film composite membranes

Andrew B. Foster et al.

Summary: Blends of different topological samples of PIM-1 polymer can dramatically vary the selectivity and aging behavior of thin film composite membranes for the CO2/N-2 gas pair. The optimal polymerization process can produce a topologically rich sample with multi-loop polymeric structure for improved gas separation performance in TFC membranes.
