Comment on Design, synthesis and magneto-structural analysis of Cu(II)-coordination networks sustained by N-H•••O and O-H•••O hydrogen bond by A. Yadav et al. [Polyhedron 222 (2022) 115892]

In this paper, the authors comment on a recently reported paper by Yadav et al. which presents the structure of a "new copper(II)-coordination network [Cu(HOr)(H2O)(2)](n)" among other results. However, the crystal structure of this compound was first described by Ha et al. and later reinvestigated by Helios et al. The latter paper showed that several synergistic interactions were responsible for the stability of the crystal structure, but these results were neglected in the paper by Yadav et al. In their comment, the authors critically assess the interpretation of the structural studies and point out numerous shortcomings and errors in Yadav et al.'s paper.
Commented herein, recently reported by Yadav et al. [1] paper presents, among other results, a structure of 'new copper(II)-coordination network [Cu(HOr)(H2O)(2)](n)'. However, the crystal structure of this compound was first described by Ha et al. [2], then it was reinvestigated by Helios et al. [3]. In the latter paper the Authors have shown that several synergistic interactions, including intra-and intermolecular hydrogen bonds, contribute to the stability of the crystal structure. The results reported in Refs [2 and 3] were completely neglected in [1]. In this Comment, we have conducted a critical assessment on the interpretation of the structural studies and analysis of the literature data. Numerous shortcomings and errors in [1] are pointed out.
