ERK signaling for cell migration and invasion

Shiela C. C. Samson et al.

Summary: The RAS-ERK pathway is crucial in promoting cell migration and invasion, with steady-state ERK activity playing a role in promoting both single cell and collective migration and invasion. ERK drives actin polymerization and adhesion turnover for edge protrusion, while cell contraction stimulates cell movement in epithelial sheets.

Role of the lipid transport protein StarD7 in mitochondrial dynamics

Maria L. Rojas et al.

Summary: The study shows that StarD7 plays a role in regulating mitochondrial morphology and dynamics, with overexpression of StarD7.I leading to mitochondrial fragmentation and increased membrane potential. Meanwhile, overexpression of StarD7.II has no significant impact on mitochondria. In D7.I cells, mitochondrial fragmentation occurs in a Drp1-dependent manner, while silencing of StarD7 decreases fusion protein levels, resulting in increased ROS levels and metabolic stress.

Pannexin Channel Regulation of Cell Migration: Focus on Immune Cells

Paloma A. Harcha et al.

Summary: Pannexin (PANX) channels play a crucial role in cell migration by mediating adenine nucleotide release and signaling. They also interact with the cytoskeleton and play a role in integrating physical and chemical cues during inflammation. PANX channels are implicated in immune cell migration and recruitment, as well as in modulating inflammatory conditions.
