New behaviors of α-particle preformation factors near doubly magic 100Sn

Jun-Gang Deng et al.

Summary: The alpha-particle preformation factors of nuclei above the doubly magic nuclei Sn-100 and Pb-208 were investigated using the generalized liquid drop model. The results showed that the alpha-particle preformation factors of nuclei near Sn-100 were significantly larger than those of analogous nuclei near Pb-208, and they were enhanced as the nuclei approached the N = Z line. The study also found that the interactions between protons and neutrons occupying similar single-particle orbitals could enhance the alpha-particle preformation factors and result in superallowed alpha decay.

Alpha and cluster decays of superheavy elements and 2p radioactivity of medium nuclei

G. Royer et al.

Summary: The alpha decay, cluster radioactivity, and heavy particle emission half-lives of known and some unknown superheavy nuclei were studied using the Generalized Liquid Drop Model and analytic formulas. The agreement between experimental data and theoretical predictions for alpha decay half-lives of superheavy nuclei is good, and predictions are provided for unknown nuclei.

Probable chances of radioactive decays from superheavy nuclei 290-304120 within a modified generalized liquid drop model with a Q-value-dependent preformation factor

K. P. Santhosh et al.

Summary: This study predicts the possible chances of heavy-cluster emissions for even-even isotopes of (290-304)120 using a modified generalized liquid drop model. The results show that isotopes with magic or semimagic numbers tend to have longer a-decay half-lives. The agreement between theoretical alpha-decay half-lives and experimental values in the Z = 120 decay chains demonstrates the predictability of the model in the superheavy region. The predictions made in this study are important as they can be detected in the near future within experimentally measurable limits.

SPONTANEOUS DOUBLE ALPHA DECAY: FIRST EXPERIMENTAL LIMIT AND PROSPECTS OF INVESTIGATION

V. Tretyak

Summary: This study discusses the potential for nuclear decay with simultaneous emission of two alpha particles, and the experimental limits on such decays. The results show that the prospects of experimental observation of 2 alpha decay are very pessimistic, based on theoretical estimations and experimental data.

The NUBASE2020 evaluation of nuclear physics properties

F. G. Kondev et al.

Summary: The NUBASE2020 evaluation provides recommended values for the main nuclear physics properties of all nuclei, including neighbors with estimated values when experimental data is not available. The evaluation also presents evaluation procedures and policies, as well as detailed tables of recommended values and uncertainties.

Microscopic Description of 2α Decay in 212Po and 224Ra Isotopes

F. Mercier et al.

Summary: A microscopic calculation of half-lives for the alpha and 2 alpha decays of Po-212 and Ra-224 was performed using a self-consistent framework based on energy density functionals. The calculated half-lives for the alpha decay of Po-212 and Ra-224 are in good agreement with experimental data. A new decay mode, symmetric 2 alpha emission, with half-lives similar to cluster emission, was predicted.
