Dissipation in a finite-temperature atomic Josephson junction

K. Xhani et al.

Summary: We numerically demonstrated and characterized the emergence of distinct dynamical regimes of a finite-temperature bosonic superfluid in an elongated Josephson junction. The dissipation of the superfluid to the thermal cloud was found to depend on two physical parameters: the initial chemical potential difference and the ratio of thermal energy to barrier amplitude.

Rotating quantum turbulence in the unitary Fermi gas

Khalid Hossain et al.

Summary: This paper presents a large-scale study of quantum turbulence in rotating fermionic superfluids using the superfluid local density approximation. The study identifies different decay mechanisms and compares the results with the computationally simpler Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The results demonstrate the key role of dissipation mechanisms in differentiating fermionic from bosonic turbulence.

Josephson dynamics of strongly interacting superfluid Fermi gases in double-well potentials

Ji Li et al.

Summary: This work investigates the nonlinear Josephson dynamics of Fermi superfluids in the crossover from BCS superfluid to BEC, revealing that cross-interaction terms in the strongly interacting regime cannot be easily ignored. These cross interactions have a substantial impact on altering the behaviors of Josephson dynamics, with opposite effects on zero-phase and pi-phase modes.

Josephson dynamics of superfluid Fermi gases in a double-well potential with dissipation or gain

Ji Li et al.

Summary: By introducing an imaginary term, a nonconservative two-mode (fTM) model is derived in this study, revealing that transitions of Josephson oscillations can be controlled by dissipation or gain, which may have applications in atomtronics devices.

Vortex lattice in spin-imbalanced unitary Fermi gas

Jakub Kopycinski et al.

Summary: The study explores the properties of a spin-imbalanced and rotating unitary Fermi gas, particularly focusing on the competition between Abrikosov lattice formation, spatial phase separation, and the emergence of the FFLO state. Experimental data show qualitative agreement with theoretical predictions. Changes in trap conditions lead to different behaviors in the gas state.

Dynamics of spin-polarized impurity in ultracold Fermi gas

Piotr Magierski et al.

Summary: The motion of spin-polarized impurity in ultracold atomic gas is determined by a critical velocity, which correlates with the spin imbalance inside the impurity. The effective mass of the impurity in two dimensions is calculated, showing a scaling relationship with the impurity's surface area. The instability of impurities near a vortex is demonstrated as a significant impact of these findings.

Universal aspects of vortex reconnections across the BCS-BEC crossover

Marek Tylutki et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the reconnection dynamics in superfluids adheres to the predicted universal behavior across the entire BCS-BEC crossover, a phenomenon that persists even in spin-imbalanced systems.
