This paper constructs a model for contact fatigue damage accumulation in an elastic half-space that is in sliding contact with a periodic one-level system of rigid spherical asperities. The research indicates that the damage accumulation rate, the thickness of the most damaged layer, and the delamination wear kinetics of the elastic body are influenced by the roughness density and nominal pressure.
A model is constructed for contact fatigue damage accumulation in an elastic half-space that is in sliding contact with a periodic one-level system of rigid spherical asperities. The model is based on solving the contact problem of penetration of the periodic system of asperities into the elastic half-space, taking into account the interaction of contact spots and assuming that the fatigue damage accumulation rate depends on the amplitude of the principal shear stresses in the elastic half-space. Assuming the absence of friction forces, we study the influence of the roughness density and nominal pressure on the damage accumulation rate, the thickness of the most damaged layer, and the delamination wear kinetics of the elastic body.
