Design Principles for High-Temperature Superconductors with a Hydrogen-Based Alloy Backbone at Moderate Pressure

Zihan Zhang et al.

Summary: Hydrogen-based superconductors offer a way to achieve room-temperature superconductivity, but their immediate application is limited by the high pressures required. This study proposes a strategy for designing high-temperature superconductors at low pressures by alloying small-radius elements and hydrogen to form ternary H-based superconductors with alloy backbones.

Superconductivity above 200 K discovered in superhydrides of calcium

Zhiwen Li et al.

Summary: Researchers have discovered superconductivity in calcium superhydrides with a critical temperature above 210 K, which is of great interest for finding superconducting materials near room temperature. The study analyzed the material's superconductivity through high-pressure electric conductance measurements, estimating an upper critical field of 268 T and a GL coherent length of 11 angstrom.

Pressure-induced high-To superconductivity in the ternary clathrate system Y-Ca-H

Wendi Zhao et al.

Summary: By performing ab initio calculations, we have identified four unprecedented ternary compounds in the high-pressure Y-Ca-H system, which have potential for high-temperature superconductivity due to their clathrate hydrogen sublattice. Among them, Y3CaH24 exhibits a calculated superconducting transition temperature of 242-258 K at 150 GPa. Our study demonstrates that phonon softening induced by Fermi surface nesting effectively enhances electron-phonon coupling.

Anomalous High-Temperature Superconductivity in YH6

Ivan A. Troyan et al.

Summary: The study reports the synthesis of a new high-temperature superconductor, yttrium hexahydride Im3 over bar m-YH6, which exhibits a superconducting transition temperature of approximately 224 K at 166 GPa. The results show YH6 has a surprisingly high upper critical magnetic field, supporting phonon-assisted superconductivity.

Superconductivity at 253 K in lanthanum-yttrium ternary hydrides

Dmitrii Semenok et al.

Summary: Through high-pressure synthesis, a series of lanthanum-yttrium ternary hydrides were discovered, including novel compounds such as cubic hexahydride (La,Y)H6 and decahydrides (La,Y) H-10 with high critical temperature and magnetic field. The critical current density in (La,Y)H-10 is comparable to that of commercial superconducting wires. These findings represent the first examples of ternary high-Tc superconducting hydrides and demonstrate a new method for stabilizing hydrides.
