Isotropic to nematic transition in alcohol ferrofluids of barium hexaferrite nanoplatelets

Patricija Hribar Bostjancic et al.

Summary: This study investigates the tuning of the isotropic-nematic phase transition of barium hexaferrite nanoplatelets (NPLs) in 1-butanol ferrofluids by affecting the interactions in the ferrofluids. The results reveal that the threshold concentration for liquid magnet formation can be altered by adjusting the mean diameter of the NPLs, the ionic strength of the ferrofluid, and the saturation magnetization of the NPLs.

Engineering applications of ferrofluids: A review

Madhusree Kole et al.

Summary: Ferrofluids are stable colloidal suspensions of nanometric sized ferromagnetic particles in conventional basefluids, with their ferromagnetic property changed to superparamagnetism. They have diverse applications due to their unique thermophysical properties, ranging from computer hard discs to bio-medical applications.
