Introducing cyano-functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes to improve corrosion resistance and mechanical performance of poly(arylene ether nitrile) coating

Yunqing Xia et al.

Summary: This study introduces poly(arylene ether nitrile) (PEN) as a protective coating on metallic substrates for the first time, and incorporates cyano-functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-CN) to enhance corrosion resistance and mechanical performance. The electrochemical results demonstrate outstanding corrosion resistance and improved tensile strength of the MWCNTs-CN/PEN coating. This work provides a novel insight in high-performance protective coating.

Oriented square shaped pin-fin heat sink: Performance evaluation employing mixture based on ethylene glycol/water graphene oxide nanofluid

Sonia Nawaz et al.

Summary: This study investigates the heat transfer characteristics of an oriented square-shaped pin fin heat sink using graphene oxide (GO) nanofluid. Experimental results show that the nanofluid exhibits better thermal performance compared to the base fluid, due to the enhanced thermal conductivity and reduced thermal resistance. The improvement in thermal performance is particularly significant at low Reynolds numbers.

All-optical laser ultrasonic technique for imaging of subsurface defects in carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) using an optical microphone

Peng Song et al.

Summary: In this study, an all-optical and non-destructive laser ultrasonic technique was presented to detect artificial subsurface defects in carbon fiber-reinforced polymer composites (CFRPs). Through non-contact laser ultrasonic testing experiments and feature images, the system successfully identified flat bottom holes of different sizes.

Thermal Lensing of Multi-walled Carbon Nanotube Solutions as Heat Transfer Nanofluids

Mohanachandran Nair Sindhu Swapna et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the particle dynamics of MWCNTs in nanofluids with different base fluids and explores their impact on thermal diffusivity. Various analysis techniques were used to reveal the complex particle dynamics and the influence of base fluid viscosity on thermal diffusivity and particle dynamics. The study suggests a method of tuning sample entropy through proper selection of base fluid to enhance applicability in various thermal systems.
