This paper summarizes the experimental study on the physical properties of ethylene glycol based nanofluids containing titanium dioxide nanoparticles of different phases. The study reveals that the concentration and phase of the nanoparticles have an effect on these properties, and the addition of nanoparticles increases the values of surface tension and density.
The paper summarizes the experimental study on the physical properties such as surface tension and density of ethylene glycol based nanofluids containing titanium dioxide nanoparticles different in terms of phase: anatase phase, rutile phase and their mixture. The samples prepared using two-step method were in various mass fractions: 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04 and 0.05, without using any surfactants. During the experimental study the surface tension and mass density were measured in temperature range from 283.15 to 318.15 K. The findings exposed the effect of TiO2 nanoparticles concentration as well as nanoparticles phase on these properties. The addition of nanoparticles to the ethylene glycol causes the increase in the value of the surface tension and density. Finally, the outcomes were compared to theoretical correlation proposed by Pak and Cho.
