TPDH-graphene: A new two dimensional metallic carbon with NDR behaviour of its one dimensional derivatives

Debaprem Bhattacharya et al.

Summary: The new two-dimensional carbon allotrope TPDH-graphene has lower cohesive energy, good temperature stability, strong metallic electronic structure, superior mechanical properties compared to graphene, and characteristic peaks in electron energy loss spectra and optical reflectance peaks in the visible range. Some nanoribbons exhibit diverse behaviors and can be used in nanodevices with strong current regulation property and robust negative differential resistance effect.

Prediction of massless Dirac fermions in a carbon nitride covalent network

Jiangming Cao et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the PQ-GDY monolayer is a Dirac semimetal with topologically nontrivial properties, with linear band dispersions mainly composed of p(z)-orbitals of C and N atoms. Through parity analysis, the band inversion mechanism in PQ-GDY is found to be similar to the strain-induced Dirac cone in GDY, and a bandgap is only opened after introducing a large spin-orbit coupling.

Biphenylene network: A nonbenzenoid carbon allotrope

Qitang Fan et al.

Summary: The study introduces a new method for synthesizing a novel biphenylene network by conducting an interpolymer dehydrofluorination reaction on a surface, resulting in a metallic carbon allotrope. This method provides a new approach for synthesizing other nonbenzenoid carbon allotropes.

Electronic properties of 2D and 1D carbon allotropes based on a triphenylene structural unit

Mario Rocha dos Santos et al.

Summary: Several bottom-up chemical routes have been developed in recent years to synthesize new forms of nanocarbon by strategically selecting molecular precursors. Theoretical calculations have been conducted on 2D nanocarbon allotropes obtained from the fusion of triphenylene-like units through tetragonal rings. The electronic properties of the system have been investigated, showing that wide nanoribbons exhibit metallic behavior, while narrow 1D systems are semiconducting.
