Data-driven analysis of weather impacts on urban traffic conditions at the city level

Hui Bi et al.

Summary: Unhealthy traffic conditions have negative implications for environment-friendly and sustainable development. This study compares the effects of weather on traffic conditions in multiple cities and finds a strong association between complex weather measurements and traffic conditions. The study also explores the different impacts of weather on traffic conditions on weekdays and non-weekdays.

Reposition optimization in free-floating bike-sharing system: A case study in Shenzhen City

Qun Chen et al.

Summary: This study introduces an improved repositioning model for the free-floating bike-sharing system and designs Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II) to conduct optimization. The proposed method, which adopts Gaussian mixture model (GMM) for clustering and establishes a multi-objective optimization model, is reasonable and effective in reposition optimization for free-floating bike-sharing system.

Dynamic incentive schemes for managing dockless bike-sharing systems

Huan Jin et al.

Summary: This study examines the effectiveness of using dynamic incentive schemes to balance supply and demand in a dockless bike-sharing system. The results show that dynamic pickup and return rewards can significantly reduce the operating cost of the system, particularly in environments with high bike return traffic intensity and a distance from the central location. Return rewards are also found to be more cost-effective than pickup rewards.

Electric carsharing and micromobility: A literature review on their usage pattern, demand, and potential impacts

Fanchao Liao et al.

Summary: Shared e-mobility refers to emerging mobility services that involve electric carsharing, e-bike sharing, and e-scooter sharing. These services are mainly used for short trips and are currently popular among middle-aged men with higher income and education. Shared e-mobility services have the potential to reduce car usage and greenhouse gas emissions.

A user-based bike rebalancing strategy for free-floating bike sharing systems: A bidding model

Yao Cheng et al.

Summary: This study introduces a user-based bike rebalancing strategy to address the bike imbalance issue in a free-floating bike sharing system. A dynamic bidding-model-based incentive mechanism is designed to determine incentive prices and improve service levels, outperforming post-price-based mechanisms.

Why they don't choose bus service? Understanding special online car-hailing behavior near bus stops

Hui Bi et al.

Summary: The study found that 10.86 percent of special hailing trips have origins and destinations that are located within 100 m distance of the bus stop. Imbalanced travel demand for special hailing at different periods of the day indicates the time-varying characteristic, which reaches its highest level in the afternoon. Users tend to choose online car-hailing over bus travel in different situations.

A two-stage incentive mechanism for rebalancing free-floating bike sharing systems: Considering user preference

Junwei Wang et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a two-stage incentive mechanism to enhance the service quality of Free-floating bike sharing (FFBS) systems. Through a survey study, it is found that users prefer drop-off incentives over pick-up incentives, and all three proposed mechanisms have proven effective in improving the service level of bike sharing systems.
