The Role of Cytochrome P450s in Insect Toxicology and Resistance

Ralf Nauen et al.

Summary: Insect cytochrome P450 monooxygenases (P450s) play important physiological roles and are particularly involved in the detoxification of xenobiotics. Recent advances in insect genomics and functional approaches have shed light on the evolution of insect P450s, their regulation mechanisms, and the genetic alterations leading to insecticide resistance. Additionally, studies on the sensitivity of beneficial insects to insecticides have provided valuable knowledge for managing P450-mediated resistance and safeguarding their health.

The Effect of Synergistic Compounds on the Susceptibility of Euschistus heros (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) and Chrysodeixis includens (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) to Pyrethroids

Jessica S. Boff et al.

Summary: Research found that the Neotropical brown stink bug and the soybean looper in Brazil have developed resistance to lambda-cyhalothrin and bifenthrin. Adding synergistic compounds can help manage these pests and reduce their resistance.

Transcriptome Analysis of Pyrethroid-Resistant Chrysodeixis includens (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) Reveals Overexpression of Metabolic Detoxification Genes

Clerison R. Perini et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential molecular mechanisms underlying pyrethroid resistance in Chrysodeixis includens, an important defoliator of soybean in Brazil, through bioassays and RNA sequencing. The results identified overexpression of various metabolic genes in the resistant strain, highlighting potential metabolic detoxification mechanisms contributing to pyrethroid resistance in C. includens.
