Kawasaki disease in childhood and psychiatric disorders: A population-based case-control prospective study in Taiwan

Daniel Tzu-Li Chen et al.

Summary: The study revealed that patients with Kawasaki disease were more likely to have comorbid psychiatric disorders, such as autism spectrum disorders and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Additionally, the use of IVIG anti-inflammatory treatment may have potential prophylactic effects against the development of psychiatric disorders.

Individual Alpha Peak Frequency, an Important Biomarker for Live Z-Score Training Neurofeedback in Adolescents with Learning Disabilities

Ruben Perez-Elvira et al.

Summary: This study conducted Live Z-Score Training Neurofeedback (LZT-NF) on 40 adolescents with LDs, and found that the i-APF metric can serve as a viable biomarker for identifying optimal responders for the LZT-NF technique. The group with low i-APF showed higher theta absolute power at baseline and higher Hi-Beta absolute power post-treatment, with less positive outcomes compared to the group with normal i-APF.

Long-term hearing and neurodevelopmental outcomes following Kawasaki disease: A population-based cohort study

Cal Robinson et al.

Summary: The study results show that KD survivors are at increased risk of anxiety disorders, but not of hearing loss. They are also more likely to have developmental disorders between 0-5 years, as well as intellectual disabilities or ADHD more than 10 years after a KD diagnosis. Enhanced development and audiologic surveillance for KD survivors may be warranted.
