Emerging antenatal therapies for congenital diaphragmatic hernia-induced pulmonary hypertension in preclinical models

Kathleen Marulanda et al.

Summary: Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is a major cause of in-hospital neonatal deaths in children with congenital malformations, with morbidity and mortality often linked to pulmonary hypertension (PH). Existing treatments primarily offer supportive measures and no pharmacotherapy has been found to reverse the pulmonary vascular remodeling seen in CDH-PH. Emerging antenatal therapies aim to alleviate vascular remodeling by restoring key regulatory factors and promoting angiogenesis, showing promise but needing further preclinical assessment before clinical use.
