Association of renalase with clinical outcomes in hospitalized patients with COVID-19

Basmah Safdar et al.

Summary: This retrospective cohort study investigated the relationship between blood renalase levels and disease severity and survival in COVID-19 patients. The results showed that patients with low renalase levels were more likely to experience hypoxia, require intensive care unit treatment, and undergo cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Every 1000 ng/ml increase in renalase levels decreased the risk of death or intubation and increased survival rate. Patients with high renalase and low interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels had the best survival.

Summary: Dysregulated renalase expression in PDAC tissues and its corresponding plasma levels are associated with advanced tumor characteristics, decreased overall survival, and reduced resectability in patients with locally advanced/borderline resectable PDAC.
