Arbitrary polarization and orbital angular momentum generation based on spontaneously broken degeneracy in helically twisted ring-core photonic crystal fibers

Takeshi Fujisawa et al.

Summary: This study investigates the generation of OAM modes in twisted ring-core photonic crystal fibers, where arbitrary polarization and OAM states can be generated using geometric phase, and different topological charges of OAM light can be simultaneously generated with the same fiber structure by properly setting the period of the inversion. The proposed approach is effective for the generation of OAM modes with conventional fiber modes, with very small wavelength dependence compared to OAM generators based on long-period gratings.
