We report a continuously tunable diamond Raman laser with output from 592-624 nm based on an all-fiber tunable ytterbium-doped laser. The maximum output power of 4.5 W is achieved at 40 W of pump power with a maximum slope efficiency of 17%. Additionally, the anti-Stokes spectrum is observed in the output spectrum. This work demonstrates the potential to achieve continuously tunable multispectral outputs with the same technique.
Orange-red lasers (similar to 590-625 nm) are of tremendous interest in biomedicine, astronomy, spectroscopy, and laser scanning. So far, the implementation of tunable is still based on the mode-selecting elements in the laser, but it is difficult to achieve a wide range of tuning due to the limited ability to select the optical elements. Here, we report a continuously tunable diamond Raman laser with output from 592-624 nm based on an allfiber tunable ytterbium-doped laser. A maximum output power of 4.5 W is obtained at 40 W of pump power with a maximum slope efficiency of 17%. Also, we found the anti-Stokes spectrum in the output spectrum. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first discovery in a continuous-wave diamond Raman laser. The work demonstrated that continuously tunable multispectral outputs can be achieved with the same technique.
