Infrared graphene assisted multi-band tunable absorber

Sunil Lavadiya et al.

Summary: The proposed manuscript presents an easy and analytical approach for designing a tunable multi-band graphene-based absorber. The design utilizes crossed-shaped resonators to achieve high absorption rates in the near-infrared wavelength range. Numerical investigations show that the absorption behavior can be adjusted by varying different physical parameters. Additionally, the paper introduces a simple design and circuit model for impedance matching to achieve perfect absorption.

Tunable perfect dual-narrowband absorber based on graphene-photonic crystal heterostructure

Yuexiang Wu et al.

Summary: A dual-narrowband absorber consisting of graphene and a photonic crystal heterostructure is proposed and analyzed in the terahertz band. The absorption is greatly enhanced due to the excitation of optical Tamm states at the interfaces. The absorber exhibits narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM) absorption peaks that can be tuned by controlling the graphene Fermi energy and photonic crystal periods, and it also maintains high absorption over a wide incident angle range for both TE and TM polarization. The proposed absorber has potential applications in THz biosensors, filters, and switches.

Ultra-narrow band widely tunable photodetector based on a graphene-liquid crystal hybrid structure

Hassan Sadeghi et al.

Summary: In this article, a widely tunable graphene-liquid crystal photodetector is proposed and investigated. The photodetector utilizes a liquid crystal layer as a Fabry-Perot filter to achieve frequency selectivity, and operates based on internal photoemission from Si/graphene Schottky junction. The structure allows for wide tunability in the operation band and detection wavelength, making it suitable for optical communications. The article discusses the dependence of the photodetector characteristics on graphene fermi energy, liquid crystal voltage, and Si grating parameters.

Multi-band and high-sensitivity perfect absorber based on monolayer graphene metamaterial

Liying Jiang et al.

Summary: This study utilizes the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method to simulate a multi-band ideal absorber and proposes a new method based on critical coupling and guided resonance. The physical mechanism is analyzed through impedance matching and coupled mode theory (CMT). By adjusting the geometric parameters of the structure, the spectral position and absorption rate of the absorption peak can be tuned.

Highly Efficient Light Absorption of Monolayer Graphene by Quasi-Bound State in the Continuum

Tian Sang et al.

Summary: Graphene is an ideal ultrathin material for optoelectronic devices, but its poor interaction with light limits its applications, especially in the visible to near-infrared region. This study demonstrates a highly efficient light absorption attribute of graphene using a Si-based photonic crystal slab with a slit, achieving near-perfect absorption of monolayer graphene due to high confinement of light and near-field enhancement in the structure. Theoretical analysis shows that breaking the symmetry of the structure can lead to high absorption of graphene via critical coupling based on destructive interference of transmission light. Additionally, the absorption spectra of monolayer graphene are stable to structural variations, and angular tolerances of incidence can be effectively improved through full conical incidence.
