High shear rate propulsion of acoustic microrobots in complex biological fluids

Amirreza Aghakhani et al.

Summary: Untethered microrobots have great potential for localized targeted therapy. However, the heterogeneous nature and shear rate-dependent rheological properties of biological fluids limit their propulsion. We propose an acoustically powered microrobotic system that generates high shear rate fluidic flow for propulsion, successfully navigating through various biological fluids, including mucous layers on three-dimensional surfaces.
