Experimental and theoretical study on the dissipative soliton energy quantization effect in the negative dispersion regime

Song Yang et al.

Summary: This article presents experimental and simulation results on the dissipative soliton energy quantization effect in the negative dispersion regime of an all-fiber Er-doped ring laser. By inserting a fiber filter into the cavity, the energy flow out of the cavity under net negative dispersion value conditions is facilitated. Single-dissipative soliton operation with a maximum pulse energy of 0.135 nJ is achieved, and dissipative soliton splitting occurs with increased pump power. Simulations based on the extended nonlinear Schroedinger equation confirm the generation of multiple dissipative solitons and soliton energy quantization in a net negative dispersion mode-locked fiber laser. These findings enhance understanding of mode-locking regimes in negative dispersion lasers and can contribute to improving pulse energy in the negative dispersion regime.

Mode-locking operation of an Er-doped fiber laser with (PEA)2(CsPbBr3)n-1PbBr4 perovskite saturable absorbers

Song Yang et al.

Summary: Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite materials with excellent optoelectrical properties and good environmental stability have promising applications in the field of nonlinear optics. This study demonstrates the excellent saturable absorption effects of 2D, quasi-2D, and 3D (PEA)(2)(CsPbBr3)(n-1)PbBr4 structures. The (PEA)(2)(CsPbBr3)(n-1)PbBr4 SA can generate ultrashort laser pulses in the Er-doped fiber laser, indicating its potential as a saturation absorber for ultrafast lasers.

Power controllable gain switched fiber laser at ∼ 3 μm and ∼ 2.1 μm

Yiwen Shi et al.

Summary: This research demonstrates a power controllable gain-switched fiber laser in dual wavebands using a hybrid pumping method. By studying different pumping schemes for a Ho3+-doped ZBLAN fiber, it was shown that the 1950 nm pulsed pump source plays a crucial role in triggering different states of the similar to 2.1 mu m pulses. The output power of the similar to 2.1 mu m gain-switched pulsed laser can be flexibly controlled by adjusting the 1950 nm pump power while maintaining the similar to 3 mu m laser power almost unchanged.

Ultra-long-period grating-based multi-wavelength ultrafast fiber laser [Invited]

Bo Guo et al.

Summary: This study introduces and demonstrates a cascaded multi-wavelength mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser based on ULPGs, achieving up to seven wavelengths for the first time. The ULPG serves as both a mode-locker for pulse shaping and a comb filter for multi-wavelength generation simultaneously. The ULPG also exhibits attractive nonlinear pulse-shaping property for ultrafast photonics applications.
