Improvement in metal vapor laser performance with reduction in localized electric field at electrodes

Dheeraj K. Singh et al.

Summary: Electrode geometry has a significant impact on metal vapor laser performance. Modifying the electrode geometry can reduce the electric field enhancement. Replacing the eight-pin electrode with a zero-pin configuration leads to a decrease in phantom current and an increase in optical output power. Reduction in field enhancement improves discharge stability and jitter by reducing thermal loading and thermal instability probability.

Analysis of the discharge plasma impedance of copper vapor laser

Dheeraj K. Singh et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel approach to analyze the impedance of high-voltage discharge plasma in copper vapor lasers (CVLs) based on experimental results. The method accurately calculates the resistance and inductance of the discharge plasma. The paper also investigates the variations of laser impedance with time, pressure, operating voltage, and electrode pin configuration, and proposes a method to maintain stable laser power.

Self-terminating barium ion laser at 614.2 nm

M. A. Lavrukhin et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the experimental results of a laser operating on the barium ion self-terminating transition. Through the use of a novel high-voltage nanosecond switch and the addition of hydrogen to the active medium, significant improvements in the output characteristics were demonstrated, achieving high average output power and short laser pulse duration.

Discharge formation in a copper vapor laser: optimal pumping conditions

N. A. Yudin et al.

Summary: The electrophysical process in the discharge circuit of a copper vapor laser is investigated, showing that the pumping process of the active medium occurs in two stages transitioning from a preparatory stage to a pumping stage through breakdown. The inductance of the discharge circuit determines the efficiency of pumping the active medium.
