The association between vision impairment and cognitive outcomes in older adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Gui-Ying Cao et al.

Summary: A quantitative synthesis of studies on the relationship between vision impairment (VI) and cognitive outcomes in older adults revealed a significantly increased risk of cognitive impairment and dementia associated with VI. Both subjective and objective measures of VI were found to be associated with cognitive outcomes. Older adults with baseline VI had a higher risk of cognitive impairment and dementia compared to those without VI.
