DNMT3B regulates proliferation of A549 cells through the microRNA-152-3p/NCAM1 pathway

Bo Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, it was discovered that miR-152-3p suppresses proliferation in non-small cell lung cancer A549 cells by downregulating NCAM1. Additionally, DNMT3B negatively regulates the expression of miR-152-3p by modulating the methylation level in the miR-152-3p core region, thus mediating the proliferation of lung tumor cells.

Overexpression of the miR-143/145 and reduced expression of the let-7 and miR-126 for early lung cancer diagnosis

Lubomir Tulinsky et al.

Summary: Lung cancer is a major cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Researchers have identified potential blood biomarkers (miRNA) for early diagnosis. This study found that the levels of many miRNAs were significantly altered in the blood of patients with early-stage lung cancer. The most important miRNA biomarkers for early detection of lung cancer are miR-143, let-7g, miR-126, let-7a, and miR-145. However, further validation is needed in larger cohorts for these individual miRNA biomarkers.

Exosomal microRNAs array sensor with a bioconjugate composed of p53 protein and hydrazine for the specific lung cancer detection

Rabbee G. Mahmudunnabi et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a novel strategy for the early diagnosis of lung cancer by detecting microRNAs encapsulated in exosomes using immunomagnetic isolation. The researchers selectively extracted exo-miRNAs from patient serum by capturing miRNA from lysed exosomes with specially designed capture probe modified magnetic beads. The sensor probe formed through T4 DNA polymerase-mediated in situ formation of chimeric 5'-miRNA-DNA-3' (Target) and p53 protein recognition showed excellent analytical performance, with a dynamic range between 100 aM and 10 pM and a detection limit of 92 (+/- 0.1) aM. Furthermore, a multiplexed array sensor was prepared to detect four exo-miRNAs at femtomolar levels in cell culture media and lung cancer patient serum samples.

Dandan Zong et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that dysregulated long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) CCAT1 plays a significant role in cigarette smoke induced inflammation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). CCAT1 is highly expressed in the lung tissues of smokers with COPD compared to never-smokers without COPD. It directly targets miR-152-3p and positively regulates the ERK signaling pathway, leading to inflammation in human bronchial epithelial cells.
