Relative validity of FFQ to assess food items, energy, macronutrient and micronutrient intake in children and adolescents: a systematic review with meta-analysis

Luisa Saravia et al.

Summary: FFQ is widely used in nutritional epidemiology research, but its relative validity in estimating dietary intake in children and adolescents may be considered weak. The majority of studies reviewed only used a single dietary assessment method, with the most common reference method being the 24-h recall.

A meta-analysis of the reproducibility of food frequency questionnaires in nutritional epidemiological studies

Qi Cui et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis found that FFQs with correlation coefficients greater than 0.5 can be considered reliable for measuring dietary intake. To develop FFQs with higher reproducibility, the number of food items and dietary recall interval should be taken into consideration.
