Complexes of metals with organotellurium compounds and nanosized metal tellurides for catalysis, electrocatalysis and photocatalysis

Aayushi Arora et al.

Summary: Tellurium chemistry has been less explored compared to sulfur and selenium counterparts. However, recent research on metal complexes of tellurium ligands and nanosized metal tellurides in catalysis suggests potential for new discoveries. Metal complexes have shown promise in various organic transformations, particularly in catalyzing C-C coupling reactions. Nanosized metal tellurides have been synthesized and characterized as catalytically active materials, but their exploration in catalysis remains limited.

Bridging the Gap from Mononuclear PdII Precatalysts to Pd Nanoparticles: Identification of Intermediate Linear [Pd3(XPh3)4]2+ Clusters as Catalytic Species for Suzuki-Miyaura Couplings (X = P, As)

Kate M. Appleby et al.

Summary: Tripalladium clusters [Pd-3(PPh3)(4)](2+), stabilized by phosphine and arsine ligands, are detected and isolated as intermediates during the reduction of mononuclear Pd complexes to Pd nanoparticles. These clusters exhibit unexpected photoisomerization under UV irradiation and show catalytic activity in Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions. Furthermore, they can alter site selectivity in reactions involving 2,4-dibromopyridine, showcasing their potential as catalysts for various transformations.

Organoselenium ligands for heterogeneous and nanocatalytic systems: development and applications

Aayushi Arora et al.

Summary: Organoselenium ligands have been a focus of research in the development of catalytic systems, with significant work done on both homogeneous and heterogeneous systems. A review article in 2012 covered the utility of organoselenium compounds in catalysis, focusing mainly on homogeneous catalysts. This perspective aims to cover the synthetic aspects and applications of catalytic systems using organoselenium compounds, while highlighting their salient features and advantages.
