Green Synthesis of FexOy Nanoparticles with Potential Antioxidant Properties

Johar Amin Ahmed Abdullah et al.

Summary: Iron oxide nanoparticles (FexOy-NPs) with specific, unique, and magnetic properties are widely used in various high-tech sectors. However, the synthesis methods for FexOy-NPs are still under investigation due to their high cost and toxicity of conventional physicochemical methods. This study compared the green synthesis method using polyphenols extracted from Phoenix dactylifera L. with the chemical synthesis method using NaOH as the reducing agent and iron chloride as the precursor. The potential of polyphenols in Phoenix dactylifera L. for sustainable production of FexOy-NPs was highlighted. Finally, the physicochemical characteristics and functional properties of green and chemical syntheses were compared.
