Graph variational auto-encoder for deriving EEG-based graph emb e dding

Tina Behrouzi et al.

Summary: Graph embedding is a powerful method for deriving low-dimensional representations of graph data. The novel graph variational auto-encoder (GVAE) method was designed to extract nodal features of brain functional connections, achieving promising results with over 95% accuracy on 3 biometric databases.

Towards a universal and privacy preserving EEG-based authentication system

Amir Jalaly Bidgoly et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an EEG-based authentication method that captures the fingerprint of users' EEG signals using deep learning methods. The method can verify claimed identities by comparing genuine EEG fingerprints with new EEG samples, even for users not observed during training. It preserves privacy by storing fingerprints instead of raw EEG signals, and improves ease of use through the Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization process.

MIN2Net: End-to-End Multi-Task Learning for Subject-Independent Motor Imagery EEG Classification

Phairot Autthasan et al.

Summary: Advances in motor imagery-based brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) allow control of multiple applications using electroencephalography (EEG) recordings. However, changes in EEG rhythms pose challenges to classification performance in a subject-independent manner. To tackle this problem, the researchers propose MIN2Net, a method that combines deep metric learning and multi-task autoencoder to improve classification performance.

A new perspective on individual reliability beyond group effect for event-related potentials: A multisensory investigation and computational modeling

Zhenxing Hu et al.

Summary: This study rigorously evaluated the test-retest reliability of ERPs in a multisensory and cognitive experiment involving 82 healthy adolescents. It found that a stronger group-level response in ERPs did not guarantee higher individual reliability. The consistency between group-level ERP responses and individual reliability was influenced by inter-subject latency jitter and inter-trial variability. These findings suggest the need to consider a neural oscillation perspective when assessing the reliability of ERPs.

Learning deep features for task-independent EEG-based biometric verification

Emanuele Maiorana

Summary: This research evaluates the feasibility of task-independent EEG-based biometric recognition by utilizing a deep learning approach to extract subject-specific template representations. Through extensive experimental tests on a multi-session database, it is found that it is possible to verify the identity of a subject using brain signals regardless of the performed mental task.
