In 2022, the WHO established the first global targets for diabetes mellitus. These targets aim to achieve, by 2030, that 80% of people with diabetes mellitus are diagnosed, 80% of those with diabetes mellitus have good control of blood sugar and blood pressure, 60% of those over 40 receive statin treatment, and 100% of those with type 1 diabetes mellitus have access to affordable insulin and blood glucose monitoring.
