Spintronic Thermal Management

Ken-ichi Uchida et al.

Summary: Spin caloritronics utilizes spin degree of freedom for thermoelectric conversion and thermal transport. Recent advancements show that heat generation, conversion, and transport can be actively controlled by spins and/or magnetism. A new concept called spintronic thermal management has been proposed, with potential applications discussed.

Observation of the antiferromagnetic spin Hall effect

Xianzhe Chen et al.

Summary: The study reports the observation of a magnetic spin Hall effect in a collinear antiferromagnet, Mn2Au, where spin currents are generated on two spin sublattices by breaking spatial symmetry, providing a new pathway for controlling spin currents.

Unconventional Meissner screening induced by chiral molecules in a conventional superconductor

Hen Alpern et al.

Summary: The study shows that adsorption of chiral molecules onto a conventional superconductor surface can significantly alter its diamagnetic Meissner response, presumably due to the induction of odd-frequency spin-triplet states by the molecules. These results suggest that a chiral molecule/superconductor system supports odd-frequency spin-triplet pairs and could serve as a simpler alternative for generating and manipulating unconventional superconducting states.

Chirality-Induced Spin Polarization over Macroscopic Distances in Chiral Disilicide Crystals

Kohei Shiota et al.

Summary: A spin-polarized state was studied in chiral disilicide crystals NbSi2 and TaSi2 at room temperature without magnetic fields, where long-range spin transport occurred over ten micrometers. The conversion coefficient in the current-voltage characteristics adhered to a sum rule, while a diamagnetic nature suggested itinerant electron spins rather than localized ones were responsible for the spin polarization. In addition, a robust protection of spin polarization was observed in chiral crystals over long distances.

Chiral spintronics

See-Hun Yang et al.

Summary: Spin currents generated by chiral structures can manipulate chiral topological magnetic excitations through chirality acquired in a spin-orbit interaction. When chiral domain walls form composite walls via antiferromagnetic exchange coupling, novel phenomena such as exchange coupling torque and domain wall drag are observed. This review discusses the recent progress in spin currents derived from or acting on chiral structures and their potential applications.
