Diterpene glycosides, acetophenone glycosides and tannins from polar extracts of the root of Euphorbia fischeriana with cytotoxicity and antibacterial activities

Kaicheng Du et al.

Summary: The phytochemical study on Euphorbia fischeriana, a folk medicinal plant in China, led to the isolation of eight undescribed glycosides, including two diterpene glycosides, three acetophenone glycosides and three tannins together with eight known ones. The structures of these glycosides were determined through extensive analysis using 1D, 2D NMR experiments and HRESIMS. Two of the diterpene glycosides showed cytotoxic activity against several human cancer cell lines, while the tannins exhibited significant antibacterial activity.

Bisfischoids A and B, dimeric ent-abietane-type diterpenoids with anti-inflammatory potential from Euphorbia fischeriana Steud.

Cheng-Peng Sun et al.

Summary: Two undescribed ent-abietane-type diterpenoid dimers with nonacyclic backbone, bisfischoids A and B, were identified, along with a known compound fischdiabietane A, from Euphorbia fischeriana Steud. These compounds showed promising anti-inflammatory activities by inhibiting soluble epoxide hydrolase, with bisfischoid B exhibiting the strongest inhibitory effect. Further molecular docking studies revealed the key amino acid residue Tyr343 in the catalytic cavity of sEH for their inhibitory function.

Euphorfinoids E-L: Diterpenoids from the roots of Euphorbia fischeriana with acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity

Jiang-Chun Wei et al.

Summary: This study isolated eight new diterpenoids from the roots of wild Euphorbia fischeriana, identified their structures and absolute configurations, and proposed a plausible biosynthetic pathway. These compounds showed moderate inhibitory activity against acetylcholinesterase, with IC50 values ranging from 6.23 to 192.38 µM.

Discovery of Highly Oxidized Abietane Diterpenoids from the Roots of Euphorbia fischeriana with Anti-tumor Activities

Jiang-Chun Wei et al.

Summary: Four new ent-abietane diterpenoids and twelve known analogues were isolated from wild Euphorbia fischeriana roots. One of the compounds showed stronger cervical carcinoma inhibition activity than cisplatin, potentially through inducing apoptosis and affecting cell signaling pathways.
