Recent deveolpment of multifunctional responsive gas-releasing nanoplatforms for tumor therapeutic application

Zebin Yang et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the recent developments of multifunctional nanoplatforms for efficient tumor delivery of stimuliresponsive gas-releasing molecules (GRMs) triggered by exogenous physical or endogenous tumor microenvironment (TME). Various therapeutic gas molecules and nanocarriers have been employed for gas delivery into cancer region. The challenges and future prospects of gas therapy and GRMs delivery nanoplatforms are discussed.

Lanthanide-based, water-soluble, white light-emitting coordination complexes for multitarget luminescence detection

Xu Zheng et al.

Summary: Water-based multitarget response materials have attracted considerable research attention. In this study, a water-soluble, single-wavelength-excitation, white light-emitting material was successfully synthesized by tuning the ratio of Eu, Tb, 4,4'-biphenyldicarboxylic acid (H2BPDC), and polyethyleneimine (PEI). Multitarget detection was achieved by using the change in luminescence color as a signal. The material showed different luminescence colors after interacting with five different targets and had the advantages of simple synthesis, high integration, and convenient detection procedures.

Boosting image-guiding radiation therapy through W18O49 nanospheres and the second near-infrared light irradiation

Nannan Zheng et al.

Summary: This study reported the development of an effective radiotherapy treatment for relatively radioresistant breast cancer using W18O49 nanospheres and near-infrared light irradiation. The nanospheres enhanced radiation-induced DNA damage and inhibited cancer cell proliferation by decreasing mitochondrial membrane potential. The use of W18O49 nanospheres also enabled highly resolved in vivo CT/PA imaging, opening a new door for multimodal cancer therapy.

Bottom-up synthesis of semiconductive carbonaceous nanosheets on hematite photoanode for photoelectrochemical water splitting

Guosheng Li et al.

Summary: Coupling graphene with hematite through a low temperature synthesis method using glucose as precursor in aqueous solution has been developed. The metallic region formed at the interface promotes charge transfer, leading to a significant enhancement in activity. This approach provides a simple, mild, and cost-effective way to fabricate carbon-based two-dimensional materials.

Biodegradable biocompatible MgO/Eu nanodrug with Acid-Base conversion capacity for targeted lung cancer therapy

Xiaoyan Qu et al.

Summary: This study presents the application of biodegradable porous magnesium oxide nanoparticles with acid-base conversion ability in cancer therapy. These nanoparticles can rapidly convert to alkaline nanosheets under the acidic tumor microenvironment, allowing efficient uptake by cancer cells and suppression of tumor growth. This is the first example of responsive cancer therapy based on biodegradable single inorganic nanomaterials through chemical structure conversion mechanism.
