MoS2/MXene Aerogel with Conformal Heterogeneous Interfaces Tailored by Atomic Layer Deposition for Tunable Microwave Absorption

Summary: In this study, a 3D porous MoS2/MXene hybrid aerogel structure was constructed by atomic layer deposition (ALD) to optimize the microwave absorption performance. The optimized MoS2/MXene hybrid aerogel showed a minimum reflection loss of -61.65 dB at a thickness of 4.53 mm. Additionally, it had desirable properties such as lightweightness, high surface area, mechanical strength, and hydrophobicity, making it suitable for practical applications.

The controllable porous structure and s-doping of hollow carbon sphere synergistically act on the microwave attenuation

Summary: By successfully doping sulfur into porous hollow carbon spheres, the optimized SPCHS demonstrated excellent absorption properties with a minimum reflection loss of -27.2 dB and an effective bandwidth exceeding 6 GHz at a thickness of 2.25 mm. With a sample filling ratio of only 5 wt% in the paraffin matrix, the SPCHS materials showed great potential in practical applications in EMW absorption.

Magnetic-dielectric synergy and interfacial engineering to design yolk-shell structured CoNi@void@C and CoNi@void@C@MoS2 nanocomposites with tunable and strong wideband microwave absorption

Summary: In this paper, yolk-shell structured magnetic multicomponent nanocomposites (MCNCs) were produced and their outstanding electromagnetic wave absorption performances (EMWAPs) were demonstrated. The as-prepared materials exhibited excellent absorption capabilities, broad absorption bandwidth, and thin matching thicknesses due to the unique structures and the synergistic effect between dielectric and magnetic loss. Furthermore, the materials maintained their specific structure even after thermal and hydrothermal processes, and MCNCs with different MoS2 contents could be synthesized by controlling the hydrothermal temperature.

The authors not only demonstrate a synergistic strategy to design multilevel hollow architecture, but also provide a fundamental guide in heterointerface engineering of highly efficient electromagnetic functional materials.

Microstructure optimization of core@shell structured MSe2/FeSe2@MoSe2 (M = Co, Ni) flower-like multicomponent nanocomposites towards high-efficiency microwave absorption

Summary: In this work, flower-like multicomponent nanocomposites (MCNCs) with core@shell structured MSe2/FeSe2@MoSe2 (M = Co, Ni) were synthesized through a simple two-step hydrothermal reaction. With increasing the amounts of Mo and Se sources, the obtained MCNCs showed enhanced content of MoSe2 and improved flower-like geometry morphology. The as-prepared samples exhibited improved comprehensive microwave absorption properties (CMAPs) with increased amounts of Mo and Se sources.

Ultrabroad Microwave Absorption Ability and Infrared Stealth Property of Nano-Micro CuS@rGO Lightweight Aerogels

Controllable seeding of nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes on three-dimensional Co/C foam for enhanced dielectric loss and microwave absorption characteristics

Summary: Carbon-based composites with three-dimensional foam structure have great potential as functional materials. In this study, nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes (NCNTs) were controllably seeded on the surface of Co/C foams through in-situ growth. By manipulating the weight ratio of melamine to pre-prepared Co/C foams, the chemical composition and electromagnetic properties of the samples could be easily controlled. The optimized sample with moderate NCNTs loading exhibited superior microwave absorption performance compared to other common metal/carbon composites.

A Novel Strategy in Electromagnetic Wave Absorbing and Shielding Materials Design: Multi-Responsive Field Effect

Summary: The use of electromagnetic (EM) devices has become widespread in various fields, but it also brings about issues such as signal pollution and radiation. To tackle these problems, researchers have been working on developing electromagnetic wave absorbing and shielding (EMAS) materials. However, most of the reported materials only possess the EMAS property. In practical applications, materials with excellent tunable absorption bands are needed. This review focuses on different external field-responsive materials and provides a detailed summary of various action mechanisms, materials synthesis methods, and macrostructures. The future trends in developing novel external field-responsive materials are also discussed.

Morphology control of eco-friendly chitosan-derived carbon aerogels for efficient microwave absorption at thin thickness and thermal stealth

Summary: In the face of increasing electromagnetic wave (EMW) pollution, biomass-based carbon materials are attracting attention due to their green, renewable, and environmentally-friendly characteristics. However, there is limited research on the microstructure control of these materials. In this study, two types of chitosan-derived carbon aerogels were prepared with different chitosan amounts and freezing methods, resulting in bamboo tube structure (BTS) and isolated island structure (IIS) morphologies. The obtained aerogels exhibited low density, high load-bearing capacity, and excellent thermal and electromagnetic wave absorption properties. The IIS aerogel showed superior performance in terms of infrared emissivity, effective absorption bandwidth, and radar cross-section reduction.

Hollow core-shell CoNi@C and CoNi@NC composites as high-performance microwave absorbers

The composites exhibited significantly improved microwave absorption performance compared to the pristine alloy, with effective bandwidths achieved at specific thicknesses.
