HACE2-Exosome-Based Nano-Bait for Concurrent SARS-CoV-2 Trapping and Antioxidant Therapy

Xiaoyi Ma et al.

Summary: This study developed a nano-bait strategy using exosome-sheathed polydopamine nanoparticles to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 infection and alleviate inflammation. The nano-bait competes with ACE2-expressing cells for viral binding and reduces inflammatory cytokines through oxidative stress mediation. The HACE2-exosome based nano-bait shows promising potential as a robust antiviral nanotherapeutics for COVID-19.

Mesenchymal Stem Cells Derived Extracellular Vesicles Alleviate Traumatic Hemorrhagic Shock Induced Hepatic Injury via IL-10/PTPN22-Mediated M2 Kupffer Cell Polarization

Yunwei Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, it was discovered that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can attenuate hepatic injury and inflammation caused by traumatic hemorrhagic shock (THS). Interleukin 10 (IL-10) plays a crucial role in this protective effect, and it is carried and delivered by MSC-derived extracellular vesicles (MSC-EVs). These EVs containing IL-10 mainly accumulate in the liver during THS, where they are captured by Kupffer cells and induce the expression of PTPN22, shifting Kupffer cells to an anti-inflammatory phenotype and mitigating liver inflammation and injury.

Young fibroblast-derived exosomal microRNA-125b transfers beneficial effects on aged cutaneous wound healing

Wenzheng Xia et al.

Summary: Aged skin wounds heal poorly due to impaired migration and differentiation of fibroblasts, as well as reduced extracellular matrix deposition. Supplementing wounds with exosomes from young fibroblasts, particularly miR-125b, can promote myofibroblast increase and wound healing in aged individuals, thus counteracting aging.

Increased BMSC exosomal miR-140-3p alleviates bone degradation and promotes bone restoration by targeting Plxnb1 in diabetic rats

Ning Wang et al.

Summary: This study found that exosomes derived from diabetes mellitus BMSCs had lower osteogenic potential in bone defect repair compared to exosomes derived from normal BMSCs. The study also found that the level of miR-140-3p was significantly altered in exosomes derived from BMSCs, ADSCs, and serum from DM rats. Summary: This study developed CD90(+) MSC-derived micro-vesicle (CD90@MV)-coated nanoparticle (CD90@NP) and validated its chondroprotective effect in rabbit and rat osteoarthritis (OA) models. The results showed that CD90@MV bioactivity was similar to that of CD90(+) MSCs, and T-CD90@NP significantly enhanced cartilage repair compared to TA and CD90(+) MSC treatments in the rabbit OA model. In the rat OA model, T-CD90@NP demonstrated effective anti-inflammatory ability similar to that of TA treatment, and also promoted chondrocyte proliferation, reduced apoptosis, and regulated inflammation through IL-10.
