Surface ligands enhance the catalytic activity of supported Au nanoparticles for the aerobic α-oxidation of amines to amides

Puranjan Chatterjee et al.

Summary: The study reports an improved catalytic activity for the aerobic alpha-oxidation of amines using silica-supported Au nanoparticles by tethering pyridyl ligands to the support. The research indicates that ligands affect the electronic properties of the Au nanoparticles, which in turn determine their ability to activate O-2 and mediate C-H cleavage in the substrate.

Influence of Stabilizers on the Performance of Au/TiO2 Catalysts for CO Oxidation

Nating Yang et al.

Summary: Stabilizers play a crucial role in synthesizing nanocrystals with well-defined morphologies and size distributions, but different stabilizers can significantly affect the catalytic activity of supported metal nanoparticles. The interaction between stabilizers and metal species may influence the electronic properties of the catalyst, leading to differences in catalytic performance.

New Magic Au24 Cluster Stabilized by PVP: Selective Formation, Atomic Structure, and Oxidation Catalysis

Shingo Hasegawa et al.

Summary: An unprecedented magic number cluster, Au24Clx, was selectively synthesized by kinetically controlled reduction in a microfluidic mixer with a large excess of poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) (PVP). The stability of Au24Clx clusters, their interaction with PVP, and their catalytic properties in the aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol derivatives were investigated. Results showed that Au24Clx clusters are stable but fluctuate, with electron-rich nature due to interaction with PVP.
