The value-added catalogue of ASAS-SN eclipsing binaries - II. Properties of extra-physics systems

Summary: Detached eclipsing binaries are analyzed to determine precise masses and radii of stars. In this study, 766 binaries with additional features in their light curves were identified and characterized, including systems with spotted stars, pulsating components, and candidate triple/quadruple systems. Various catalogues were used to search for possible blends, and isochrones and evolutionary tracks were utilized to determine the evolutionary state of the systems. The orbital period distribution of spotted binaries was found to be divided by evolutionary state, and a number of exotic systems, such as cataclysmic variables and binaries with discs, were highlighted.

New compact hierarchical triple system candidates identified using Gaia DR3;

Summary: We present a novel approach to identify new compact hierarchical triple stars by utilizing Gaia DR3 and its future data releases, aiming to significantly increase the current number of such systems. By searching for Gaia DR3 non-single-star orbital solutions with longer periods compared to the eclipsing binary periods listed in various sky surveys, we found 376 newly identified hierarchical triple system candidates. Additionally, we confirmed 192 candidates through TESS eclipse timing variations and constructed analytical models for the eclipse timing variations of 22 objects with well-sampled TESS observations.

Return of the TEDI: Revisiting the Triple Evolution Dynamical Instability Channel in Triple Stars

Summary: The phenomenon of triple evolution dynamical instability (TEDI) in triple-star systems can lead to collisions of stars, exchanges, and ejections. This study revisits the TEDI evolutionary pathway using advanced population synthesis methods and finds collision rates on the order of 10(-4) yr(-1). TEDI-induced collisions involve mainly main-sequence stars and can potentially produce blue straggler stars. The TEDI is triggered by both adiabatic wind mass loss and Roche lobe overflow in the inner binary. Consideration of flybys in the field increases collision rates by approximately 17%.

Triply eclipsing triple stars in the northern TESS fields: TICs 193993801, 388459317, and 52041148

Summary: In this work, the discovery and analysis of three new triply eclipsing triple star systems found with the TESS mission are reported. Through a joint photodynamical analysis utilizing precision photometry, radial velocity measurements, and spectral data, the masses and orbital parameters of these systems were deduced, with the outer orbital periods identified before detailed analysis.

Multiply eclipsing candidates from the TESS satellite

Six new compact triply eclipsing triples found with TESS
