Cosmology with the EFTofLSS and BOSS: dark energy constraints and a note on priors

Pedro Carrilho et al.

Summary: In this study, we analyzed the BOSS DR12 multipoles of the galaxy power spectrum, combined with measurements of the BAO scale, for three different dark energy models. Our analysis used a windowless estimator and a fast algorithm for the redshift-space loop corrections. We found that the scalar amplitude was low in the CMB-free case, consistent with previous analyses of the BOSS data, and discovered a large degeneracy between the interaction strength and the amplitude in the dark scattering model of interacting dark energy.

The halo bispectrum multipoles in redshift space

Federico Rizzo et al.

Summary: In this study, the halo bispectrum in redshift-space is analyzed and measured in terms of its multipoles, including monopole, quadrupole, and hexadecapole, using a large set of simulations. A tree-level model in perturbation theory is fitted to the measurements, which depends on linear and nonlinear bias parameters as well as the growth rate of density fluctuations. The analysis takes advantage of a large set of mock catalogs, allowing for a robust estimation of the covariance properties for all multipoles. The validity of the tree-level model is found up to a maximum wavenumber of 0.08 h Mpc-1 for the monopole, and 0.06 h Mpc-1 and 0.045 h Mpc-1 for the quadrupole and hexadecapole respectively. The numerical estimate of the full covariance is compared to its theoretical prediction and found to be in remarkably good agreement, particularly in simulation boxes with periodic boundary conditions.

Challenges for ACDM: An update

L. Perivolaropoulos et al.

Summary: In recent years, challenges to the standard ACDM model have been emerging as cosmological observations improve. This review discusses various signals in cosmological and astrophysical data that are in tension with the standard ACDM model, such as the Hubble tension, growth tension, and lensing amplitude anomaly, as well as other less-discussed signals that may hint towards new physics. The goal is to provide an update on the current status of these signals, particularly the Hubble tension, and refer readers to additional resources for more details.

Accelerating astronomical and cosmological inference with preconditioned Monte Carlo

Minas Karamanis et al.

Summary: Preconditioned Monte Carlo (PMC) is an efficient Monte Carlo method for Bayesian inference, which allows for efficient sampling of complex probability distributions. PMC utilizes a Normalizing Flow (NF) to decorrelate the distribution parameters and employs an adaptive Sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) scheme for sampling. The results produced by PMC include samples from the posterior distribution and an estimate of the model evidence, which can be used for parameter inference and model comparison.

New tests of dark sector interactions from the full-shape galaxy power spectrum

Rafael C. Nunes et al.

Summary: In this study, we explore the role of redshift-space galaxy clustering data in constraining nongravitational interactions between dark energy (DE) and dark matter (DM). By combining the data from galaxy power spectrum and Baryon Acoustic Oscillation (BAO) measurements with Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) data, we obtain one of the strongest limits on the DM-DE coupling strength. Contrary to previous observations, we find that the combination of CMB and full-shape (FS) galaxy power spectrum returns tighter constraints compared to the combination of CMB and BAO, indicating valuable additional information in the broadband of the power spectrum. Our results highlight the critical role of redshift-space galaxy clustering measurements in precision cosmology.

BOSS DR12 full-shape cosmology: ΛCDM constraints from the large-scale galaxy power spectrum and bispectrum monopole

Oliver H. E. Philcox et al.

Summary: We present a full CDM analysis of the BOSS DR12 dataset, including various statistics such as power spectrum multipole, real-space power spectrum, reconstructed power spectrum, and bispectrum monopole. The inclusion of the bispectrum provides consistent parameter constraints and reduces the error bars. Our results are broadly consistent with the observations from the Planck satellite.

Cosmological parameters from the likelihood analysis of the galaxy power spectrum and bispectrum in real space

Andrea Oddo et al.

Summary: In this study, a joint likelihood analysis of the halo power spectrum and bispectrum in real space was conducted using a large set of numerical simulations and halo mock catalogs. Constraints on bias and cosmological parameters were derived, and a reference bias model dependent on seven parameters was selected based on the Deviance Information Criterion. This model accurately recovers three selected cosmological parameters even for extreme simulation volumes, demonstrating the importance of considering relations among bias parameters and full covariance estimation from mock catalogs.

The large scale structure bootstrap perturbation theory and bias expansion from symmetries

G. D'Amico et al.

Summary: The study investigates the role of symmetries in the perturbative expansion of the large-scale structure, identifying which coefficients of perturbation theory kernels are dictated by symmetries. It is found that for dark matter density contrast, only three coefficients are not fixed by symmetries, while for biased tracers, this number rises to seven. Extended Galilean invariance plays a crucial role in this analysis, establishing constraints on the analytic structure of perturbation theory kernels.

Interacting dark energy from redshift-space galaxy clustering

Pedro Carrilho et al.

Summary: Interacting dark energy models are proposed as alternatives to ACDM, and forthcoming galaxy clustering surveys will provide constraints on these models. This study compares three approaches of modeling non-linearities, considering a model with a simple 1-parameter extension to wCDM. Analysis using simulated data shows that the EFTofLSS-based model is better at describing data up to smaller scales and extracting more information, forecasting uncertainties on the dark energy equation of state and interaction parameter.

Probing elastic interactions in the dark sector and the role of S8

Jose Beltran Jimenez et al.

Summary: Observational constraints were placed on two models featuring an elastic interaction between dark energy and dark matter. The findings suggest that the Hubble tension can be alleviated due to additional radiation, and the sigma 8 tension present in the ?-cold-dark-matter model can be eased by weaker galaxy clustering in these interacting models. Furthermore, while CMB + BAO + SnIa data provide upper bounds on the coupling strength, low-redshift data strongly support nonvanishing values of the interaction parameters.
