QUIJOTE scientific results - IV. A northern sky survey in intensity and polarization at 10-20 GHz with the multifrequency instrument

J. A. Rubino-Martin et al.

Summary: We present intensity and polarization maps at four frequency bands centred around 11, 13, 17, and 19 GHz, covering a large portion of the northern sky region. The maps were derived from observations made between May 2013 and June 2018 using the first QUIJOTE multifrequency instrument (MFI), with high angular resolutions and sensitivities. We discuss the data processing pipeline, calibration accuracy, and characteristics of the maps.

28-40 GHz variability and polarimetry of bright compact sources in the QUIJOTE cosmological fields

Yvette C. Perrott et al.

Summary: The study found that the observed sources exhibit a lognormal distribution of polarization fractions, with a median of approximately 2%, and have high rotation measure values. There is a hint of correlation between total intensity flux density and median polarization fraction. The sources show variability in both total intensity and polarization, indicating the need for simultaneous polarimetric monitoring observations and masking for cosmological analysis.

The PICASSO map-making code: application to a simulation of the QUIJOTE northern sky survey

F. Guidi et al.

Summary: Map-making is a crucial step in cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiments, converting complex data into observable sky images. The PICASSO code was introduced for constructing intensity and polarization maps from the QUIJOTE-MFI experiment. Validated with simulations, PICASSO showed high fidelity in reconstructing signals and could potentially be adapted to other experiments.
