Development of an innovative maceration technique to optimize extraction and phase partition of natural products

Anthonin Gori et al.

Summary: The study introduces an innovative method of successive macerations using a mixture of solvents to improve yield, partition of compounds, and reduce volume of extraction solvents. This approach was validated by conducting three successive macerations with a polarity gradient on a model plant, showing overall good yield, improved phase partition, and reduced extraction time and volume of solvents.

A Study on the Fabrication of an Effective Natural Substance Based on Schisandra chinensis Extracted Fermentation

Chi Thanh Nguyen et al.

Summary: The study utilized a high-efficiency Schisandra chinensis extract produced by fermentation with effective microorganisms (EM) as an antioxidant material in cosmetics. Tyrosinase inhibitory factor analysis, pH, and thermal stability tests were conducted to verify the efficacy and whitening effects of the products, with results indicating the SCE exhibited high antioxidation ability. Additionally, the pH and thermal stability were evaluated to optimize cosmetic fabrication conditions, showing a decrease in pH with increased extract concentration and safe use even after 60 days of storage.

Schisandrol A Exhibits Estrogenic Activity via Estrogen Receptor α-Dependent Signaling Pathway in Estrogen Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer Cells

Dahae Lee et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that schisandrol A has estrogen-like effects by inducing the expression of ER alpha through the PI3K/AKT and ERK signaling pathways, promoting the proliferation of MCF-7 cells. The effects of schisandrol A were more significant compared to E2 and could be mitigated by the ER antagonist ICI.
