Attenuation of methotrexate induced hepatotoxicity by epigallocatechin 3-gallate

Ayan Pradhan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the hepatoprotective influence of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) in a methotrexate (MTX)-induced rat model of hepatotoxicity. The results showed that EGCG can prevent MTX-induced liver damage and oxidative stress.

Soluble epoxide hydrolase inhibitors: an overview and patent review from the last decade

Malliga R. Iyer et al.

Summary: Soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) plays an important role in metabolizing bioactive epoxy fatty acids (EFAs) and converting them to pro-inflammatory vicinal diols in the arachidonic acid signaling pathway. Inhibition of sEH offers a potential therapeutic approach to increase the levels of epoxyeicosanoids and resolve pro-inflammatory pathways in diseases. Significant progress has been made in developing potent single and multi-target inhibitors with promising in vitro and in vivo activities. Successful clinical translation of compounds targeting sEH inhibition will further validate the therapeutic potential of this pathway in treating human diseases.

The Modulation of Arachidonic Acid Metabolism and Blood Pressure-Lowering Effect of Honokiol in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats

Fawzy Elbarbry et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the antihypertensive effect of honokiol (HON), a naturally occurring polyphenol, and highlights its role in modulating arachidonic acid (AA) metabolism. These findings provide a novel mechanism for the cardioprotective properties of HON.

Green Tea Catechins: Nature's Way of Preventing and Treating Cancer

Mohd Farhan

Summary: Green tea catechins have well-known anticancer and anti-inflammatory effects, with EGCG showing the strongest potential. They can serve as lead molecules in the synthesis of novel anticancer drugs and as natural adjuvants to standard chemotherapeutics.

Effects of a catechins-enriched diet associated with moderate physical exercise in the prevention of hypertension in spontaneously hypertensive rats

Cristina Del Seppia et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of a combination of catechins and moderate exercise on hypertension in rats. The results showed that both catechins and exercise individually reduced blood pressure, but the combination did not produce a greater hypotensive effect. However, the combination treatment did prolong the duration of blood pressure reduction. These findings have important implications for hypertension prevention.
