Chloroquine attenuates chronic hypoxia-induced testicular damage via suppressing endoplasmic reticulum stress and apoptosis in experimental rat model

Ali Tugrul Akin et al.

Summary: This study investigated the therapeutic effects of chloroquine (CLQ) on hypoxia-induced testicular damage. The results showed that CLQ could improve histopathological changes, reduce apoptosis, and increase serum testosterone levels in the testes. Therefore, CLQ may be considered as an alternative protective agent for alleviating the negative effects of hypoxia on male fertility.

Inflammatory biomarkers on an LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cell model: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Bruno Matheus Facchin et al.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the rationality of measuring inflammatory mediators along with nitric oxide levels as a screening method for potential anti-inflammatory effects. The study utilized an in vitro model using RAW 264.7 cells and found that measuring NO levels may be sufficient to screen for possible anti-inflammatory action.

Regulation of the macrophage-related inflammatory micro-environment for atherosclerosis treatment and angiogenesis via anti-cytokine agents

Hongji Pu et al.

Summary: In this study, mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) were used as carriers to regulate the inflammatory microenvironment of macrophage-mediated atherosclerosis (AS) by controlling the release of anti-interleukin-1 beta (anti-IL-1 beta). In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated that MSNs@anti-IL-1 beta can reduce the proliferation and phenotypic switching of vascular smooth muscle cells, promote the viability of vascular endothelial cells, and impede the progression of AS by maintaining endothelial integrity.

Degradable co-delivery nanoplatforms for inflammation-targeted therapy against atherosclerosis

Zhaoyu Wu et al.

Summary: The study developed an inflammation-targeted nanoplatform, IL-1Ra@Cu-MSNs, for co-delivery of IL-1Ra and copper ions to reduce arterial stenosis, plaque burden, and macrophage infiltration in atherosclerosis. The nanoplatform exhibited outstanding drug-loading efficiency, sustained release property, and biodegradability, integrating targeted modulation of cellular function and inhibition of inflammation based on mesoporous silica nanoparticles, providing a novel strategy for inflammation-targeted therapy against atherosclerosis.
