Defect engineered (Er3+/Nd3+) codoped TiO2 photoanodes for enhanced photoelectrochemical and photovoltaic applications

Venkata Seshaiah Katta et al.

Summary: This study presents an efficient method to engineer electronic energy defects and achieve defect passivation in TiO2 lattice through the codoping of neodymium and erbium ions. The results show that the performance of the TiO2 photoanode is significantly improved with the rare-earth coating. Various characterization techniques confirm the optimal doping concentration and the preservation of the TiO2 lattice structure. The codoped TiO2 photoanode exhibits improved charge transport characteristics and enables a favourable energy landscape, resulting in enhanced photoelectrochemical performance.

Self-doped TiO2 nanotube array photoanode for microfluidic all-vanadium photoelectrochemical flow battery

Wei Zhang et al.

Summary: A self-doped TiO2 nanotube array photoanode was developed for a microfluidic all-vanadium photoelectrochemical flow battery to enhance solar energy storage performance. The self-doping extended the light absorption range and the one-dimensional nanotube structure promoted electron transport and separation efficiency, while miniaturization reduced mass transfer resistance. Upgrading light intensity and vanadium ion concentration could further improve photocurrent density and vanadium ion conversion rate.
