Intestinal Dysbiosis in Patients with Histamine Intolerance

Sonia Sanchez-Perez et al.

Summary: Diamine oxidase (DAO) deficiency is an underlying cause of histamine intolerance. It can originate from genetic, pharmacological, or pathological factors, and may also be linked to alterations in the gut microbiota. A study found dysbiosis of the gut microbiota in patients with histamine intolerance, with lower levels of certain bacteria related to gut health and higher levels of histamine-secreting bacteria. This imbalance could lead to the accumulation of histamine in the gut and subsequent adverse effects.

Faster and sensitive zymographic detection of oxidases generating hydrogen peroxide. The case of diamine oxidase

Paul Chomdom Kounga et al.

Summary: The existing zymography method for detecting DAO activity has been improved with a new staining procedure using 3,5-dichloro-2-hydroxybenzenesulfonate as peroxidase substrate and 4-amino-antipyrine as color stabilizer. This new method allows for a more sensitive detection of DAO compared to the previously reported substrate.

Instability of therapeutic proteins - An overview of stresses, stabilization mechanisms and analytical techniques involved in lyophilized proteins

Arun Butreddy et al.

Summary: Solid-state storage is preferred for protein therapeutics to improve stability, with lyophilization as an effective drying method. However, the lyophilization process can lead to protein instability, which may be addressed by adding stabilizers or modifying the process for enhanced stability.

Histamine Intolerance-The More We Know the Less We Know. A Review

Martin Hrubisko et al.

Summary: Food intake can trigger adverse reactions, with food intolerance being an abnormal non-immunological response to ingested food or its components. Histamine intolerance is a type of food intolerance that is difficult to diagnose and requires a complex approach for treatment, including low-histamine diet and DAO supplementation.
