Integrated Platform Addressing the Finger-Prick Blood Processing Challenges of Point-of-Care Electrical Biomarker Testing

Edward Cheah et al.

Summary: Advances in label-free electrical biosensors have the potential to revolutionize healthcare by enabling simple, rapid, cost-effective, high-sensitivity, and quantitative biomarker testing at the point-of-care setting. This study presents a simple and robust autonomous finger-prick blood sample processing platform integrated with nanoscale field-effect transistor biosensors, demonstrating the feasibility of measuring the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein.

Ga2O3 nanorod-based extended-gate field-effect transistors for pH sensing

Jung-Lung Chiang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the pH-sensing characteristics of gallium oxide (Ga2O3) nanorods grown on ITO/glass via chemical bath deposition. The nanorods exhibited multiple crystalline orientations after annealing, with the presence of Ga-O and Ga-OH bending modes confirmed by FTIR and Raman spectra. The Ga2O3 nanorods showed good crystal quality and atomic lattice arrangement, with high pH sensitivity, good linearity, and long-term stability, making them suitable for use as low-cost FET-based sensors for pH or biosensors.

The performance of point-of-care antibody test for COVID-19 diagnosis in a tertiary hospital in Bandung, Indonesia

Nis Fauziah et al.

Summary: The study compared the performance of POC-Ab and rRT-PCR in detecting COVID-19, indicating that POC-Ab has a high specificity and can be used for diagnostic guidance in resource-limited settings, with no false-positive results in non-COVID-19 patients. However, it has lower sensitivity, and patients highly suspected of COVID-19 with non-reactive POC-Ab results should be prioritized for rRT-PCR testing.
